ANIMATED PREVIEW
The note is the headline, the cents are the detail, and the arrow lights on the side you need to move. The rail expands around zero, so a fraction of a cent is something you can actually see.

139BUILT-IN TUNINGS

THE TUNING IS ALREADY IN THERE

Standard, drop, double drop, open and modal tunings, laid out for every string count. Pick the instrument and the number of strings, and the list narrows to what actually fits it.

Each entry shows its notes next to the name, so you can confirm at a glance that it is the one you meant.

EXTENDED RANGE

SIX TO NINE STRINGS

Extended range is not an afterthought here. Seven, eight and nine string guitars get their own tuning sets and their own string rows — not a six string layout with extras bolted on.

IT FOLLOWS THE INSTRUMENT

A DIFFERENT LIST FOR EVERY STRING COUNT

Switch to seven strings and the tunings change with it — B Standard down through Drop A, All Fourths, Russian 7, and the rest of what actually gets played on a seven.

No scrolling past six string tunings that cannot apply, and no guessing which of them was meant for your instrument.

BASS

AND IT TRACKS LOW

Switch to bass for four, five and six strings. Detection holds down to the low B and below — the self-test below tracks a C#0 at 17.32 Hz.

DETECT

NOT SURE WHAT IT IS TUNED TO?

Hit Detect Tuning and play the open strings in any order. RiffTuner works out which tuning the guitar is in and tells you how confident it is about the answer.

Useful when a guitar comes back from someone else, or when you tuned down months ago and never wrote it down.

Custom tuning editor with per-string note and octave
CUSTOM

OR BUILD YOUR OWN

Set each string by note and octave, watch the target frequency update as you go, give it a name and save it. Your tunings sit in the list next to the built-ins and stay there between sessions.

Self-test results: 18 of 18 pass, max error 0.05 cents
ACCURACY

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT

RiffTuner ships with a self-test you can run yourself. It feeds the detector known frequencies from 17 Hz to 1.3 kHz and reports the error on each one.

Max error 0.05 cents. 18 of 18 pass. Pitch detection uses the McLeod Pitch Method, which is why it stays solid on low, muddy extended-range strings.
